Ok, so I was asked to tell a little bit more about my religion, I am half Lakota, and my father (who is white) decided that my mother's people had a better religion, and seeing that he had no real family, felt welcomed by my mother's family, and while this is called a religion, it's more a way of life, so as children, my brother and sister and I were all taught this way. It's more of a personal spiriuality then a lot of the organized religions today, you are required to love and believe in Wakan Tanka, and to treat all of his children, animals and people alike, with respect and love. There are no real rules, like in other religions, and all tribes have a differences, just to make things interesting. I have included a few things below that should help your understanding, and perhaps have you ask more questions. For a long time my people (because if you have even one drop of Lakota blood in you, you are Lakota) were killed for their religion, and the Ghost Dance that sprung up because of it. I know you all have heard about Wounded Knee, and other masacres, but really a lot of people who aren't Lakota don't really care about what caused it. So. I'll get off my soap box now, and let you read! If you have any questions feel free to leave a comment, or to e-mail me or whatever.

The Lakota Creation Myth )

The Emergence )

The Seven Sacred Rited )

Here is a small prayer to Wakan Tanka (our Great Spirit):

Prayer )

((OOC: Ok, well I am not even half Lakota, but like T says if you have even one drop of Lakota blood in you, you are Lakota, so about a year ago I had a bit of a crisis of faith, and found out about Native American Spiriuality, and well it works for me, so I have a TON of infomation about it, and if anyone has serious questions in RL that they want to ask me...feel free...also all you who wish to "turn me back to the right path" and all that, no need, see the wonderful thing about this religion is that it lets you kind of define your own terms, and as I was raised Christian, I still have a great belief in Christ, and my chosen spiriuality doesn't conflict with that...so there!))

Ok, is anyone else really really really hot? My AC went out today, and I'm so horrible at DIY fixups that I'm afraid that if I try to fix it I'll end up blowing something up. I put a message into the landlord, but well, he is a jerk, and hates my cats, so...

Speaking of cats, all three of them are shedding so bad, it's driving me bonkers. I gave Logan a bath (yes I know cats are supposed to hate water, but Logan doesn't do anything normal), and his fur clogged up the shower so bad, wow, I didn't think he had that much fur on him, not to mention having enough left after all that fell out! Baby and Kieda not being water fans settled for a loooong brushing,a dn I have almost a grocery bag full of discarded fur. Gah, why did I have to have three cats?

I saw on the news tonight that some of the high schools around here closed because of the heat! Wow, that is nuts, for two reasons, one, that kids are still in school, and two that it's so bloody hot! Gah! I went to HS in PA, and there we got out the first week of June, and never much later, but I did attend college here in NJ, and they do start a lot later then the colleges in PA because the kids get out of HS so late...so it was really nice for me!

College was probably the best time of my life. I was so geeky back then though. I was totally into my studies, and track that I had no social life until I was a Junior. LOL! I lived a mile from the beach for 3 years before I figured out that it's a great place to party!

Track has been life for a while now, and I don't know if I'll ever be able to give it up, they do have meets for the seniors, lol (over 65 and I can throw the 6lb shot again!) and I think I will keep it up, it's a great way to stay in shape, and throwing a 9 pound metal ball is a great stress reliever! Discus is my best event however, and my favorite to do, it's technical, but not as technical as jav, and it's violent, but again, not as violent as shot. It's the perfect medium, and I love it. I will have to post a pic of my disc, my parents got it for me when I turned 16, and it has served me well for many years. I was the only 16 year old girl to ask for a discus rather then a car! lol.

On a different note, does anyone know of a good pool to join around here? I know there is the ocean not that far away, but I really love doing laps (I know, it's been confirmed, I'm a dork!), and I haven't been in town long enough to go pool hunting, and I'm getting desperate! It's too bloody hot here!

Oh! One more tiny piece of news, there is a track meet on Friday of this week, and I managed to get time off to go to it, so I will only be throwing disc, as I haven't really had the time to train for anything else, but it should be great fun, I have needed a competition to keep myself focused. Ok, well that's it for now...I'm sure something else will come up tonight!

((OOC: Ok, well the track meet thing is real, and I'm heading to N. Carolina E A R L Y on Thursday, and not returning until L A T E on Sat, so sorry that I won't be on, but hey it's Nationals, and I qualified! On the last throw of my season! lol, I managed to pull one out at States, and got 4th and hit 130'6" so I was much happy! Ok, enough bragging *pokes self*))

Wow, I had such a busy night last night. I got hom from work and had to run to teh gym before it closed, thank goodness the lifting program I'm on now is quick. After that I had to go all the garbage, and that means cat boxes too. Blah. I love my cats so much, but they are slobs! lol! Finally got to watch Finding Neverland, wow, what a great movie, and then it was off to bed, so I guess it wasn't that busy but it sure felt that way! My shift doesn't start until 11:00 today, so I have some time to be lazy...yay! It's nice having two other docs working with you on all this stuff, makes life a lot easier. I'm glad that we have another new person, it seems like there have been a lot of transfers, me included. It would be nice if there was like a meeting or something where all the people got introduced, but I guess that would be pretty lame. I also see that a lot of the people have gotten these LJs, so that's cool, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Ok, well Logan is begging for some rubs, so I'm out.

Ok so today is very slow...I'm thinking about getting some clinic time in, but dragging myself down there would actually require effort, and I don't know if I'm up for it right now...lol! Saw the new Pedes doc walking around, didn't get a chance to say hi, so here it is...HI! Wow, I'm hyper today, it must be the lack of sleep...lol!

Got to meet a really nice little boy today, his parents were concerned because of his lack of response to auditory stimuli. He was normal up until he turned two, and then he stopped answering his parents all the time, and didn't want to watch TV. The one thing that made them think that it wasn't serious was that he still spoke, and while his speach was a little off they put that down as baby talk. After a few auditory tests it was apparent that he was almost totally deaf, and I just got the labs back, he has Cholesteatoma, which is pretty rare, but not that uncommon. After checking the history it seems that he had an inner ear infection about three months before the problems started, and it looks like that is the cause of the problem. The hardest thing is telling the parents that their two year old son will go totally deaf, and there is nothing that I can do about it. In some cases ear surgery can be done, and reconstruction of the middle ear can be done, but his case is a little too advanced. Ah, crap, I guess I had better let Dr. Eaton know about this, because I want to take on this case as a long-term patient. Knowing ASL will really come in handy for this...

Ok, I guess I had better stop messing around and get back to real work.

So I got up this morning and found Baby and Kieda sleeping on my legs, and unwilling to move. Logan was somewhere, he doesn't like the girls that much, I think they boss him around too much. Oh, Baby, Kieda, and Logan are my cats, Baby is a beautiful browna nd tan tabby, Kieda is a Siamese, and Logan is my special boy, I found him about three blocks from my old apartment, he had been hit by a car, and just left there. I got him to the vet, and they managed to save him, but he had to have one of his hind legs amputated because it was too badly damaged. Baby and Kieda love to chase him around the apartment, but Logan is smart and always hides with me. So after convincing the eight paws with claws that I really had to get up, I made some breakfast and fed all the begging furr balls too. Logan came out of his hiding spot, and said hello. I will post some pics of them later, as soon as I figure out how to do the cool cut thing. Ok, well I had better get myself ready for work, my shift starts in an hour.

Well, I've been wanting to start one of these for a while. Taru here, I'm a fellow at the Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, and I work in the Pedes department. So far I haven't had too many things to do because I just started here 3 days ago, but this last shift was insane, 12 hours is something I thought I had left behind with my residency, but it looks like we are not so lucky. Good for me that I still have my coffee addiction to fall back on. lol. So, I guess this first post should be a bit of a history, but I'm too lazy to type it twice, so go to my user lookup and read it there! Ok, well I have some taped shows to get to, and I have to be back at work early tomrrow, so I guess this is it for the first post. Byes.
